All companies are featured because they follow environmentally friendly procedures in the production of their designs. We also feature some Fair Trade companies.

Caroline Raffan Glass

Sustainable lighting handmade from recycled glass.Various designs and commissions taken.

Caroline develops her designs through her love of nature, and is frequently inspired by landscapes, animals, trees, plants and birds. Her work features use of texture, combining imagery and colour to enhance the living space. Caroline includes in her collection items from recycled glass and lamps that can be used with low energy bulbs.

Hannah Lobley

paperworks

Paperwork' is a unique recycling technique using the printed pages of unwanted books and paper. The pages are transformed back into a solid wood like material. Traditional wood working methods are then used to create sculptural objects from that material. The surface patternation of the paper when the objects are lathe turned echoes wood grain. Wood becomes paper becomes wood.

It is no longer necessary to have soot marks up your walls or inhale the unfriendly fumes of paraffin wax burning. Hapi Bean offers a healthier cleaner totally environmentally friendly alternative. Our soy wax contains NO gm products, pesticides or herbicides, and is sustainably sourced. Hapi Bean is in its infancy, so for now tea lights are the focus but a wider range will follow.

Roy Tam

Roy is an award winning product and furniture designer specialising in Low Impact Design. For 12 years, he was partner to eco pioneer David Colwell at Trannon and his philosphy is to minimise energy and emissions - his furniture is made using very local surplus trees without kiln drying and finished in local organic wax. As a senior lecturer at the University of Plymouth, he is passionate about teaching by exhibiting, so his students learns how to design as well as set up business. His corporate clients include the Natural History Museum, Wessex Water and the NHS.
