Talk on Recycled Fashion by Deborah Barnes, Lecturer, Seattle, USA.Deborah runs the fashionRIP Project at: fashionrip.blogspot.com This blog is about a collaborative arts installation project to be constructed in 7 chapters. Combining recyCouture, video, music, photography, collage, painting, writing, etc. it supports connective concepts by being the very thing that it is about. This site hopes to communicate and inspire desire for sustainable lifestyles, co-operative economics and social justice by reinforcing the positive returns of an evolved viewpoint. Deborah also runs fashionethos.blogspot.com A blog on all sustainable fashion and textile ideas, links and musings to support the classes she started teaching in recycouture and why refashion, repurpose and reuse was important; and where it fits into the ethical, green and recycle processes. |

Recycled Jewellery Making Workshop by Gigi – 5pm-9pm Friday 26th Only.A life long love of art & fashion - and a family's near obsessive hoarding of ‘trinkets & shminkets’ lead to the eclectic jewellery label ‘Gigi’. Every old tin of treasure can inspire a new piece - with vintage charms and retro hair clips, dolls house teapots & broken strings of beads, old favourite pieces and unwanted cast offs are reworked, with a creative twist. Gigi – Never knowingly underaccessorised. For the purpose of this workshop, a range of jewellery templates including chain, jumprings, catches and a selection of beads will be on offer at fixed prices. The workshop will cover how to make the selected piece from scratch; as well as ideas and instruction for reworking old pieces brought along by the customer. Bring along an old string of beads and Gilly can show you how to pick them apart and add them to a template to create a new necklace/earrings or bracelet. All craft tools will be provided.Prices will depend on the template chosen and the amount of extra beads etc, but will start from £12 No need to book - just turn up with some interesting bits and bobs to recreate into something gorgeous, and join in! |
